Petition Action

Create new green planning requirements for residential properties

Petition Details

We want the planning system to be used to require developers of new housing to have to put in a net gain of trees, hedging, etc.

Additional Information

Developers should also be required to use hedging and trees to divide plots, and not fences or brickwork, supporting going green and wildlife.

Over the years housing developments have been built on greenfield sites, this has resulted in wildlife habitat being lost but also has resulted in loss of carbon capture via loss of trees, grass, etc.

The COP26 highlights the need for tree planting to reduce CO2 in the atmosphere one of the ways this could be achieved is by demanding housing developments provide green boundaries for plots, this should result in miles of hedging and trees being planted.
