Remove whipping as a part of party politics
Whipping as a practice should be made illegal.
"Your representative owes you, not his industry only, but his judgment; and he betrays instead of serving you if he sacrifices it" Edmund Burke.
The whip, by pressuring an MP to ignore their judgment, is undemocratic. The recent situation involving Owen Paterson MP in which Conservative MP's were whipped to support the lowering of parliamentary standards* against their better judgement is a good example (*Andrea Leadsom's amendment).
Whipping should be illegal.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Decisions about whipping are the responsibility of the political parties, and decisions about how to vote in the House of Commons are the responsibility of individual MPs, not the UK Government or Parliament as a whole.
