Introduce mandatory carbon footprint ratings for all goods and services
Create requirements, like for nutritional information, that all food, goods and services must display a carbon footprint rating, like the traffic light label on food stuffs, showing the carbon footprint of a good or service. This would help consumers make an informed choice when buying.
We are facing a climate crisis with targets to reduce our carbon emissions. Consumers need information to make informed choices when buying food, goods and services. Government data shows buying a British tomato in winter an have three times the carbon & energy consumption than buying an imported Spanish tomato. There’s lots of examples like this but why stop there on food. It should be compulsory on all goods/services from toilet roll to banking, this will help consumers and promote carbon competition.
