Petition Action

Lower the wages of the Prime Minister and members of Parliament.

Petition Details

Lower the paychecks of the government, stop spending money on jets and painting planes and your lavish lunches and expensive cars and houses. All of the money that is taken from that is given to the NHS

Additional Information

This is not to say the government will have no money. Of course running the country is an extremely difficult job and thus must be paid adequately. But the wasteful and greediness of our government needs to come to an end.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions must call for a specific action that the UK Government or Parliament is responsible for.

Decisions about MPs pay are a matter for the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA), not the Government or Parliament. As a result it is not possible for the Government or Parliament to take the action you have requested.

For more information on IPSA you can visit their website: www.theipsa.org.uk/

We could accept a petition calling for ministerial salaries to be reduced, as these are set by the Government.
