Petition Action

Introduce statutory licensing & regulation of builders and construction workers

Petition Details

The Government should require all builders and other construction workers to be registered with a Government regulatory body, which has the power to investigate complaints and enforce remedies, including re-payment to the client, financial penalties, re-training, and abide with a code of practice.

Additional Information

Yearly, hundreds people across the UK are scammed by Rogue Traders. We believe the protections of consumers are deeply inadequate, and can leave the customer with poor / dangerous workmanship and deeply out of pocket (and it is frustratingly hard to get your money back). Its too easy for a rouge builder to prey on homeowners, and the few avenues of redress are costly for the customer/victims. Mandatory licensing and regulation across the UK of these workers should help protect consumers.
