Support Social Care & ease pressure on NHS by changing VAT regime to zero rated.
Changing the VAT regime from EXEMPT to ZERO rated would allow providers to recover the VAT paid on such expenditure as Rent, Care Supplies, Advertising, Recruitment Expenses, Fuel Supplies, Telephony, Stationery,Consultancy, IT Services,Training, Property Services and Repairs etc.
This will enable Care Providers to raise the hourly rate of pay for social care workers, taking into account petrol costs and travel time. This will provide a more level playing field in which to recruit staff, improve staff retention, and create a more resilient and stable workforce able to support the increasing needs for services and reduce pressures on the NHS arising from Covid-19
