British Empire doesn't have a place in today's Queen's Honours
CBE, OBE and MBE are given for people's amazing contribution and service to the country. They stand for Commander of the Order of the British Empire, (Officer and Member). Parliament should debate the name of these titles in today's Britain and propose a change to ensure they reflect today's society
We recognise the importance of these Honours but we do not think that the recognition of people’s achievements on behalf of the British Empire is relevant and appropriate to be used today and is, in fact, hurtful to a lot of people. We want the Parliament to debate this topic and to write to Her Majesty the Queen on our behalf to respectfully propose a change in the titles being used to be more appropriate to what we are actually celebrating today.
