Hold employers to account for the 11 hours rest period between shifts
Put into law if an employer requires its employees to work within the 11 hours, the employee is given a supplementary rate or be fine for breaking this Law.
This rate should be paid for every contracted rate regardless at a minimum
The leisure industry is renowned for this. My current employment I finish at 10pm and regularly then start at 0530 and this was similar to my last 2 employers. However, this isn't going to change, especially if employers want to save money by not employing another person. Their argument would be it is to fit around our personal commitments but aren't to allowed to have a life and be able to do extracurricular activities and exercise? Research already shows shift work affects your health!

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about people not being able to take a rest break between work shifts, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
Under the Working Time Regulations 1998, workers are entitled to a rest period of 11 consecutive hours rest in each 24 hour period during which he works for his employer.
If an employer fails to meet its legal obligations under the Working Time Regulations 1998, local authorities are able to take enforcement action.
We could accept a petition calling for changes to the Working Time Regulations 1998, but it would need to be clear what changes you want to be made.
