Increase living allowance for working families
low income working families struggle to make ends meet. It costs more to work because of uniforms and travel costs. For this reason working families should be left with more to live on.
Using entitled to and taking into account all benefits a family of two parents and three children is left with the following amounts after housing costs:
£356.81 per week (includes £30 per week free school meals) if neither parent works
plus school get pupil premium of over £900 per child to help child with uniform/trips/tutoring etc
£412.39 per week if one parent works min wage 40 hour week
£420.87 per week if both parents work min wage 40 hour jobs
Please do not forget the costs of working - covering childs sickness, travel costs, uniform/work clothing costs, less eligibility to charitable help such as food, furniture and clothing.
