Petition Action

Remove Government encouragement of Police Discretion for Cycling Offences

Petition Details

We would like to call on Government to remove advice allowing encouragement shown to Police the use of Discretion regarding Cycling offences Committed.
To Continue to allow the option of discretion allows the Police to continue to ignore rd offences Committed by Pavement Cyclist.
Whom break law.

Additional Information

The Cyclist and e bike situation riding on Pavements has become an ongoing Problem.
As Cyclist,E Bikes and have taken over our Pavements and Pedestrian Zones, and are shown no Punishment for there actions.
Shown little to no responsibility by the Police.I believe this is very wrong
To allow this as a discretion giving what is happening on the ground. Is no longer acceptable and does not encourage Police to act.
The removal of this encouragement by Government is now required more than ever.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned about enforcement of cycling offences, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

Decisions about investigating alleged offences and prosecuting these are an operational matter for the police and Crown Prosecution Service, not the Government or House of Commons.
