MP’s should not be abstaining on votes.
Members of Parliament should not be allowed to abstain from voting, we are the ones who pay their wages and we expect them to vote on all matters, if they are not voting then they should not be representing the people.
The public vote them in to represent them and expect them to carry out their duties to the full, which includes voting not abstaining.
