Require All Food Businesses to Donate Their Unsold Stock to Those In Need
In the UK, thousands of people live rough. Many others don’t live rough, but are still homeless, at risk of becoming homeless or otherwise affected by poverty. Sometimes, homeless people don’t eat for days! Despite this, some UK supermarkets UK throw out the equivalent of 190 million meals a year!
There are thousands of people in the UK who live rough or are otherwise homeless, or just in poverty. These people struggle to feed themselves and their children.
Yet, supermarkets, restaurants, bakeries and greengrocers throw out masses of food each year. This food could be used to feed those in need!
Obviously, the food that is donated to those in need should be of edible and safe quality - food that is past its use-by date shouldn’t be eaten. But there is no need for such waste!
