Petition Action

Ban the crossbreeding of certain dogs with great risk of health problems.

Petition Details

Ban the crossbreeding of certain dogs at risk of health issues such as; allergies, genetic issues, breathing difficulties + more. We would like the government to put in some guidelines or ban to educate the public on irresponsible breeding. So many crossbreeds live their whole lives in discomfort.

Additional Information

My dog was born allergic to pretty much everything. She was a crossbreed between a King Charles cavalier and a Toy poodle. Both of these dog breeds have known health issues like heart issues, allergies and sight/hearing difficulties. A lot of breeders will crossbreed dogs to look a certain way and a large amount of these dogs end up having health issues passed down from both parent breeds, where they will live with so much discomfort and pain, so it’s not fair nor ethical to crossbreed them.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We are very sorry to hear about the death of your dog, but petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned about the crossbreeding of dogs with a higher risk of health problems, but it's not clear if you want the Government to ban crossbreeding of particular dogs - and if so, which dogs - produce guidance for breeders, or something else.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
