Petition Action

Fully & partially vaccinated people coming from Nigeria to self isolate at home.

Petition Details

To lift Nigeria from the red list - The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, 2/12/21 confirmed the first 3 cases of Omicron variant of COVID-19 in Nigeria.

Additional Information

The essential aim is to help the population with getting vaccinated, to keep individuals safe and for a better outcome - why are innocent people being mislead because this sends a message that being vaccinated is not effective at all. This could pull out others from taking the necessary action to be vaccinated. There has not been a death identified with Omicron in Nigeria. Nigeria has had 3 affirmed cases so how can drastic measures be made based on minimum cross-examinations and accurate evidence. Fully and partially vaccinated individuals ought to be permitted to travel as long as they adhere to self isolation.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned about restrictions on people travelling to the UK from Nigeria, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. Your petition refers to changing requirements to enter managed quarantine, but also refers to removing Nigeria from the red list.

We have published the following petition, which you might like to sign:

Remove all African countries from the red list immediately: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/602220

If you want something different to the above petitions You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
