Change the legal age for smoking / use of e-cigarettes from 18 to 16

Petition Details

Change the rule about smoking/use of e-cigarettes. Change the legal age to purchase tobacco, cigarettes and e-cigarettes from 18 to 16 and the legal smoking age from 18 to 16.

Additional Information

The reason why I want the legal age for smoking / use of e-cigarettes to change from 18 to 16 is because people aged 16 and 17 are ‘Young Adults’, and should be able to smoke.

Also, e-cigarettes are less harmful than normal cigarettes and it would be better for those who originally started smoking at a young age to turn to e-cigarettes to help them quit.

As the age of consent in the UK is 16, In my opinion I think the legal age to purchase/use tobacco, cigarettes and e-cigarettes should be 16.
