Amend the forced marriage act to include mandatory licenses to arrange marriages
To marry you need a marriage license. If you want to arrange someone's marriage you should have a license. That license should only be given from a registry office after the person's written consent. This will help stop forced marriage. If suspected, the Forced Marriage Unit can be informed.
The money raised can help fund the forced marriage unit lessening the financial strain on the taxpayer.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about existing protections against forced marriage, but we're not sure exactly what services you want to be required to be licensed.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, we could accept a petition calling on the Government to require individuals offering professional services to arrange marriages to be licensed, if that's what you want to happen.
