Do not pass the Health and Social Care Bill
We are concerned that this Bill could result in a reduction in access to emergency services, and a loss of Ministerial accountability.
The first clause of the National Health Service Act 1946 states:
(1) It shall be the duty of the Minister of Health to promote the establishment in England ... of a comprehensive health service designed to secure improvement in the physical and mental health of the people of England and the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness
(2) the services so provided shall be free of charge.
We are concerned about the responsibilities the Bill would give to Integrated Care Boards, on which private companies could sit.
