Petition Action

Boris Johnson to resign over Downing Street Christmas Party.

Petition Details

I want the government and Parliament to force Boris Johnson to step down as UK prime minister due to continuous lying and evasive actions regarding the coronavirus pandemic and the Christmas party.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept petitions about appointments, which includes calling for Ministers to be sacked or to resign, or for a vote of no confidence. Any decision to resign his position would be a personal matter for the Prime Minister.

If you're concerned about a particular policy or decision that's the direct responsibility of Government or the House of Commons, you could start a petition about that.

Since you started your petition the Government has published terms of reference for an investigation by the Cabinet Secretary into allegations of gatherings that took place or may have taken place last year: www.gov.uk/government/publications/terms-of-reference-for-the-cabinet-secretarys-investigations
