Adult train tickets should be for 18+ NOT for 16 and 17 year old's.
At the moment 16 year old's and 17 year old's have to pay an adults price for train tickets, however they are not adults and are still children. They can not do 18+ things so should not have to pay an adults price.
I would like the government to take this into account and let children pay for a child's ticket and have only 18+ pay for an adults ticket.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions must call for a specific action that the UK Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
The definition for child fares on rail is set out in the National Rail Conditions of Carriage (NRCoC). The NRCoC is an agreement between train operators, and changes to this agreement would be a matter for train operators, not the Government or Parliament.
As a result it is not possible for the Government or Parliament to take the action you have requested.
