Provide funding for a memorial for the victims of the British Empire
The Government should provide funding for a memorial for the victims of the British Empire.
Something to commemorate the millions of lives lost when Britain invaded 20% of the worlds population. A memorial would not diminish Britain but help it to establish its place as a diverse and inclusive country.
As George Santayana said “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” We must be aware of our mistakes, in order to learn from them. A lesson we teach to children, yet as a nation over 400 years old, we aren’t prepared to face it.
A memorial would provide the historically excluded with a sense of belonging. They would know that the struggles of their ancestors have not gone unnoticed.
You can't sign this petition because it is now closed. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
