Fund routine bowel screening from the age of 50
I would like the Government to make routine bowel screening available from the age of 50 years, due to the fact that so many more people are being diagnosed at an earlier age. There are too many cases of bowel cancer being overlooked because a patient is under 50.
I am 51 and have recently been diagnosed by bowel cancer. I was lucky that my GP took my symptoms seriously but I have connected with people my own age (even younger) that were not so lucky.
Making regular bowel screening available from the age of 50 should help identify more cases of bowel cancer earlier, so patients can be offered the necessary treatment.
