Ensure better family visiting in hospital & care homes especially at end of life
Re COVID Government to ensure better arrangements for all members of a patient’s immediate family to visit while in hospital especially at end of life and provide funding for resources to enable this. Ensure there will be no future restrictions preventing reasonable family attendance for funerals.
There are still significant restrictions for visitors to patients in UK hospitals. Example: “We allow one visitor (someone in the immediate family, or a carer) on agreement with the nurse in charge. If your child is receiving end of life care, we allow both parents to visit.” This means a patient with a partner and children, can only see a single member of family. We believe this in inhumane for both patient and family. No more patients should die or be buried separated from their loved ones.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions must call for a specific action that the UK Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
We can accept petitions calling for changes to restrictions on visitors where these have been set by the Government, but decisions about visiting, within national rules, are a matter for individual hospital and care homes, not the Government or Parliament.
We have published the following petition, which you might like to sign:
