Increase 999 service funding and set response time targets
The Government should set ambitious response times for 99 services, and increase funding to help meet them. This should be the key way of delivering an effective emergency response for the UK.
There should be no need for hold music when calling an ambulance, no more response times measured in hours. The entire system needs overhauling.
Simply put, too often, help isn’t there when you need it. Waiting hours for ambulances and the Police. Unable to contact call centres for help over the phone.
This is the first generation that can’t be taught that if you’re in trouble call 999 for help.
