Petition Action

Review barriers to and support for sufferers of Amblyopia or ‘Lazy Eye’

Petition Details

The Government should:

- Fund research for treating adult Amblyopia
- Review visual acuity standards for the Armed Forces and Uniformed Public Services and consider reducing barriers to people with Amblyopia
- Review arrangements for testing eyesight in childhood

Additional Information

There are limited treatment options for adults with Amblyopia. We believe visual acuity standards can be too harsh on the condition for some roles as many people with the condition.

As treatment is most successful if diagnosed at 7 years or before, the Government should also review eye testing arrangements for children, and consider funding additional testing.
