Urgent debate on Gordon Browns plan for global vaccination. (Guardian 20/12/21)
To protect ourselves against Covid 19 we need to protect everyone in the world. Allowing developing countries to remain vulnerable because they do not have access to vaccines makes no sense. at a very basic level there will inevitably be travel between countries and the virus will spread.
If we do vaccinate globally we protect ourselves.
Morally we must look after our neighbours.
The cost for most of us is tiny.
“The $23bn breaks down to just 10p a week, to be paid by every citizen of the global north, and would be the best investment in world history,” he added. “Surely making the difference between life and death is worth more than the price of the cheapest biscuit?” Gordon Brown, The Guardian 20/11/21
I suggest that some of us can afford more than 10p a week
