Fund free same-day PCR testing for people with vulnerable relatives

Petition Details

People with clinically extremely vulnerable relatives should have free access to PCR testing with quick turnaround (at least same-day) results to allow them to conveniently plan safe visits to their loved ones.

Additional Information

People with clinically extremely vulnerable relatives have limited options if they wish to visit relatives safely.

Lateral flow testing is insufficiently sensitive to ensure that people can visit vulnerable relatives with real peace of mind.

The existing free PCR testing is designated for people with COVID-19 symptoms, or who have had contact with a positive case, and provides results within 24-72 hrs. People with vulnerable relatives should therefore have free access to quick turnaround PCR tests like those available for international travel.
