Taking the next step to stop “period poverty”
It is unfair for women of all ages to have to pay for items they need for something that is unable to controlled or something we do not want to have.
It can cost up to £8 a month for tampons and pads and is supported by the Children’s charity Plan International who found that 10% of girls in Britain have been unable to afford sanitary products.
In countries where sanitary products are inaccessible or unaffordable, periods can mean missed school for girls (UNICEF estimated that 10% of African girls don’t attend school during their periods) and an increased dropout rate during workplaces.
Therefore it should be made legal to have free products in workplaces, pharmacies, and colleges to provide for everyone.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We understand you are concerned about the provision of period products, however it is currently perfectly legal for workplaces and other such settings to provide such products.
