The 1921 Census should be made publicly available.
The availability of the 1921 Census has been restricted through a single organisation, Findmypast, thus denying the general public access to these public documents. The Government should immediately rescind this contract and make the information available to any person or organisation.
These census documents contain historical information of great interest to individuals. By restricting access through just one supplier, Findmypast, it means that public information is being controlled by just one organisation and flies in the face of competitiveness and transparency. If the National Archives want to charge for information it should be transparent and not restrictive.
