Ban horse slaughter in the UK
Horse slaughter is happening in the UK to supply overseas, we do not consume horses in England and should not be killing them.
Overbreeding of horses and ponies is a problem in the UK. Restrictions on this are being looked at. However we should also be banning the slaughter of the horses and ponies to prevent the drive and need for breeding. We do not consume horses in this country and should not be slaughtering them for overseas.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about horses being slaughtered, but it's not clear if you want slaughter of horses to be banned in all circumstances, or just if their meat is going to be exported.
Additionally, the UK Government is only responsible for animal welfare legislation in England, so could not implement this for the whole of the UK.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
