Petition Details

EXTEND THE ACCESS TO ENHANCED DBS CHECKS TO INCLUDE SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS
Require any online platform allowing people claiming to be Mental Health advocates, giving advice to children and valuable people to be subject to the same strict guidelines that are in place off-line as online

Additional Information

Predators are no longer able to gain access to vulnerable people, children and people with mental issues due to the DBS System, so these predators have now moved online using social media platforms to reach potential victims.
These people need to be subjected to the same checks online as they would be off-line.
The DBS SYSTEM, needs reviewing to be fit for purpose in a digital age. Social media platforms need to be made accountable for allowing predators using their social media platforms.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you want there to be new requirements for DBS checks for certain people, but we're not sure who you want to be subject to DBS checks, or who you want to be required to carry these out.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
