Introduce a ‘standards in reporting’ code for the media.
To introduce a ‘standards in reporting’ code for the press and media, to reduce or even eliminate inaccuracy and bias and ensure that the general public are properly and accurately informed in important issues so that they feel that they can respond appropriately!
During the pandemic, lots of my family and friends felt that they were not getting accurate and unbiased information that they needed to avoid anxiety and confusion about advice, rules and instructions. Many of us were forced to avoid the media and arrange to access only the PM’s press conferences in order to be clear and feel confident that we were acting as needed. Then, we had to engage with others who had listened to the media and had a different idea of what to be doing.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Ofcom already publishes a broadcasting code, and enforces broadcasting standards.
