Require under-5s who are a household contact of Covid-19 to avoid childcare
Require under-5s who are household contacts to stay away from nursery or childcare settings for 10 days.
Current guidance states that "Children under 5 years who are identified as close contacts are exempt from self isolation and do not need to take daily LFTs. They are advised to take a PCR test if the positive case is in their household." Children under 5 can continue to attend their childcare setting as normal.
Young children are inevitably in close contact with household members, and are unable to socially distance from staff and peers at nursery, placing them at risk of passing on the virus.
