Outdated 1960s tree felling laws must change to stop wildlife population decline
Forest tree felling licences can't include 'enforceable conditions' to safeguard rare wildlife: https://theconversation.com/rare-woodland-wildlife-at-risk-because-of-50-year-old-tree-felling-rules-107535
Scotland has new law. Wales is bringing in new law. England must follow to halt wildlife loss
It's illegal to kill red squirrels. Yet English forests containing them aren't protected and can be cut down
The UK Forest Standard approach to sustainable forestry doesn't prevent this e.g. Welsh Government recognised 'a disjoint' between the Forestry Act and other environmental legislation, leading to gaps in wildlife protection:

Guidelines in England are no replacement for law change

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about existing rules relating to licenses granted under the Forestry Act, but we're not sure exactly what changes you'd like to be made to the legislation governing these licences.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
