Call for Free Provisions of Period Products to Curb Period Poverty across the UK
Period Poverty UK is calling for legislation to curb period poverty, following Scotlands's example. We believe that public bodies and local authorities should provide free period products in their bathrooms, while schools, colleges and universities should provide a range of products at no cost.
The provision of menstrual products is a basic right for every person on their period and public bodies should accommodate this necessity. We are calling on the government to ensure that every woman and girl who needs period products has access to them, so everyone can manage their period safely and with dignity.
It should be mandatory for educational institutions, local authorities and public bodies to provide a range of period products free of charge in their toilets.
