Keep legal self-isolation until all children over 5 have been offered a vaccine.
All children above the age of 5 should be offered a free vaccine to protect them against Covid-19 before the legal requirement to self-isolate if Covid positive is removed.
While the risk to children of severe illness or death from Covid-19 is relatively low, they may still experience long Covid after an infection as well as the small risk of paediatric inflammatory multisystem syndrome. Our children should be afforded a chance to receive protection before we completely remove the final remaining Covid-19 restrictions.
