Backdate settled status from beginning of application

Petition Details

If someone applies for settled status & after a long delay receives it, make it valid - at least for the purpose of applying for citizenship - from the date it was submitted, not when granted. This way the one year wait needed to apply for citizenship is not affected by the slow approval process.

Additional Information

To make the process fair: then it is not dependant of the time it took to process the application which is understandably slow do to their sheer number, the pandemic, or whatever else. All who applied will be eligible to apply for citizenship.
