Return maternity services to pre-covid
I’m currently 34 weeks pregnant and my anxiety is giving birth with restrictions. The country has now returned to normal but why are restrictions still in place around the NHS and the maternity services? Why should we allow clubbing when women can’t even have their partner stay on a ward with them?
From the 27th January 2022 England moved away from plan B restrictions. Meaning vaccinated or not you can attend events with unlimited numbers and no longer need to wear a face mask. But tell me why my partner has to sit in a corridor when attending antenatal appointments? Or once put on an postnatal ward my partner can only visit for 4 hours a day? Why can’t I give birth at home? Because many restrictions still won’t allow for this to happen! Remove NHS restrictions for Maternity Services!

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We understand you are concerned about visiting rights in hospitals, but decisions about who can visit patients are a matter for that hospital and the NHS, not the UK Government or Parliament. Current Government advice to NHS hospitals does not prohibit or limit visitors, such as partners attending the birth of their child. You can read more about this here: www.gov.uk/government/publications/wuhan-novel-coronavirus-infection-prevention-and-control/new-government-recommendations-for-england-nhs-hospital-trusts-and-private-hospital-providers.
If you have a concern with a particular hospital's visitor policy, you could raise it with them directly.
