Petition Details

The Multiplication Tables Check is due to become statutory for all children in year 4 this summer (2022). This exam was created by one minister without meaningful consultation with the education community and, in its current form, is not fit for purpose.

Additional Information

This version of the Multiplication Tables Check has been designed to force schools to ensure that children rote learn their tables and deliver them in high-pressure exams at the age of 8, despite this being clearly unrealistic for many children.
