Petition Action

Tighter controls on wood stoves in built up areas

Additional Information

To control the emissions from the increasing number of wood burning stoves which impinge on members of the community, by making installation regulations tighter by not allowing any chimney or vent below that of the apex of the main roof of any building in which a stove is installed, unless that stove is vented through a pre existing chimney, built at the time of the construction of the premises . Regardless of any pre existing enviromental regulations ( smoke controlled zone)
All installed chimneys must be examined on construction to ensure compliance with regulations.
No property within close proximity to another residential property (within 20 meters ) shall be allowed a wood stove on the premises, unless with the consent of the other resident.
All fuel to be stored in a dry environment and burnt dry.
