Allow people to opt out of the £200 “loan” that the chancellor announced in Feb
There should be the option for consumers to opt in or out of a token gesture “loan” the government are ENFORCING on all households that has no formal application process and is recoverable over 5 years that not everyone wants or agrees too.
The energy industry is a privately run sector not public therefore it’s not for the government to decide on peoples financial situations without debate or options to choose if we want it or not. This “Loan” they enforce on the public comes without options for consumers to opt in or out based on their personal circumstances
Loans are regulated by industry standards and affordability checks - offering a token £200 when cuts to green levies and VAT would be more effective are ignored again
