SCRAP HS2 & Spend the money on Flood Defenses & river dredging
Scrap HS2 where the costs are too great in this time of austerity. Spend the money on flood defences and dredging the rivers. Buy the specialist river dredging equipment NOW. Purchase more pumping equipment to drain the Somerset levels NOW. Establish and improve impregnable sea defences. Build river barriers wall to protect towns. Compensate all those home owners, farmers and businesses that have been polluted by sewage. Help them now with support and money.
Fund this instantly by simply SRAPPING HS2
Environmentally HS2 is a disaster threatening at least 350 unique habitats, 50 ancient woodlands, 30 river corridors, 24 Sites of Special Scientific Interest and hundreds of other important areas which cannot be replaced.
HS2 would have significant social impacts, uprooting householders and devastating communities without proper compensation.
