Allow individuals to submit a petition to the House of Commons without an MP
We ask the Government to act in the general public’s greater interests by allowing individuals to submit a petition to the House of Commons without an MP. Currently MPs who are in a position of trust can refuse to present a petition by an individual from their constituency to the House of Commons.
The government and MPs have a duty to serve the people. There are MPs who will act in the best interests of their constituents. However there are other MPs that are mainly in safe seats who take their position for granted and when an individual asks their MP for assistance to submit a petition, either they do not respond, refuse to help, label those who contact them or enforce their own opinion.
The government needs to consider the impact on the most vulnerable people who have no voice.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. Members of the public do not require an MP to sponsor an e-petition.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
