Sanction MPs and peers who mislead parliament and refuse to correct the record
Parliament must sanction those who are shown to have misled parliament and then refuse to correct the record. Appropriate sanctions will be chosen through public consultation as a deterrent.
There have been many instances of MPs misleading the house and failing to correct the record. Rather than sanction these MPs, it is those who call out the practice in the chamber who are more likely to be sanctioned. A suitable deterrent is clearly required and parliamentary rules should be updated, in consultation with the public.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
It's already the case that someone found to have knowingly mislead the House may have committed a contempt and be subject to sanctions including suspension.
