Petition Action

Make ULEZ and LEZ payments last 24 hours from time of payment, not 00:00 -23:59

Petition Details

It is essential that the way payments work for congestion charging MUST change.
Having made a payment, from that moment of entry, we should automatically be given a 24 hour pass to use our vehicles within the congestion charging zones across London and all other low emission zones across the UK.

Additional Information

With TFL and the government charging you day by day (00:00 - 23.59pm), a lot of people ware caught out, as was I with the thought that a payment would last 24 hours from time of payment.
The current payment system essentially means that, at present, a driver could pay at 23:59 one day and then if driving at 00:01 the day after (just 2 minutes since payment), they would be fined by TFL.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

Decisions about the time of operation of congestion and low emission zones are a matter for the relevant local authority, not the UK Government or Parliament.
