This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

The UK Government is responsible for setting the franchise for UK parliamentary elections and local elections in England and Northern Ireland, but decisions about the franchise for parliamentary and local elections in Scotland and Wales are a matter for the Scottish and Welsh Parliament, not the UK Government or Parliament.

We could accept a petition calling on the Government to hold a referendum on changing the franchise for elections for which it sets the franchise.
