Review parking on Isle of Wight town centres and to be cheaper
There needs to be action for parking prices on the Isle of Wight. Footfall is struggling and the council are set to raise parking prices by 10p an hour, this should not be allowed to happen and should be getting cheaper!
Let’s look at an example first
Newport IOW charges
Up to 1⁄2 hour £1.10
1⁄2 hour to 1 hour £1.70
1-2 hours £3.40
2-3 hours £5.10
And then Chichester
Up to 30 Mins 60p
Up to 1 hour £1.50
Up to 2 hours £2.80
Up to 3 hours £4.50
There is a big difference and they plan to add 10p per hour to this, footfall is already struggling and this will drive people away. This needs to be going the other way as it is sill for a beautiful historical city centre to be cheaper than Newport.
