Instruct hospitals to allow relatives to visit patients in hospital
To instruct hospitals to allow immediate relatives permission to visit their loved ones in hospital.
With Covid restrictions easing there is still a blanket ban on visiting in hospitals unless for “end of life” etc. This cruel policy appears now only in force to ease the burden on hospital staff dealing with relatives face to face and is not in the best interest of the patient. Patient mental health must be a factor aswell as their medical care.
It is accepted that restrictions like mask wearing and proof of negative lateral flow test could be in place to facilitate access!

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
Visiting policies for individual hospitals are a matter for NHS England and individual NHS trusts, not the Government or Parliament. You should contact your local hospital to find out what their visiting policy is.
