Allow dog owners to move insurance co. with epilepsy as a pre-existing condition
I want it to be law that insurance companies have to cover pre-existing conditions. Primarily I am referring to dogs that have epilepsy but this should extend to other lifelong conditions too. I want epileptic dog owners to be able to 'shop around' when their policy ends.
At this moment in time, owners of dogs with epilepsy cannot 'shop around' for a better deal when their policy ends purely because NO insurance companies will cover pre-existing conditions, only with unreasonable caveats such as Bought by Many say the animal must have a three month period where there is no treatment, medication or advice with a vet and VetsMediCover want a 24 month period with the same criteria! This is an impossibility when dealing with such an unpredictable illness.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
Decisions about whether to offer insurance, and what insurance coverage to offer, are a matter for individual insurers, not the UK Government or Parliament.
