Increase our minimum wages by at least 12.2% in April 2022
People of the UK are experiencing a steep increase in utility bills and general living costs. Our wages do not reflect this increase and many of us are struggling to get by month to month. The Government should increase all national minimum wages by 12.2%.
Example of the effect of increasing the minimum wage by 12.2% for someone aged over 23 on a 40-hour week:
Current minimum wage is £8.91ph - £1,544 before tax.
Proposed minimum wage £10ph - £1,733 before tax.
This increase of almost £200 per calendar month before tax could really help people to better afford their monthly living costs in response to the sharp rise in bills.
