Petition Action

UK to offer asylum and humanitarian help to Ukrainian civilians.

Petition Details

Allow British Nationals to look after vulnerable Ukrainian family members (Including parents and siblings) on the territory of the United Kingdom, who are fleeing from the war zone for safely.

Additional Information

Poland and Ukraine’s neighboring European countries have been kindly allowing families to flee for asylum. There are limited numbers allowed to leave the border, and civilians are caught up in the military actions unable to escape. British Nationals, and Neutralized Ukrainians in Britain have vulnerable family members they could house, finance and offer safety to and should be permitted to do so.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

In any case, since you started your petition, the Government has launched a 'Homes for Ukraine' scheme, which will allow individuals, charities, community groups and businesses in the UK to bring Ukrainians to safety – including those with no family ties to the UK.

You can find out more about this here: homesforukraine.campaign.gov.uk/

The Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities announced details of the scheme in the House of Commons on Monday 14 March.
